The festive season is coming – yes, I know there are nearly six weeks to go, but it never hurts to start getting your head round gift ideas in good time, just to be sure that you can find what you’ve decided to buy before it sells out.
So for the next few posts, I’ll be making some suggestions for presents for friends and family who are into aromatherapy, or would like to be.
Today’s post is about essential oil diffusers. There are several types available. See this post for more information on the different kinds of oil diffuser.
If you’re in the US, Starwest Botanicals has quite a good range of diffusers of various types.
There are five oil burners using tea lights (votive candles) to choose from, for example. My favorite is the Black Orbit Diffuser (top), priced at $11.25.
Of the five electric aromatherapy diffusers on offer at Starwest, the most expensive is the Home Nebulizing Diffuser, at $60.03. The others range in price from $22.80 to $37.47.
In the personal diffuser section, Starwest have a diffuser necklace at $11.65 and a couple of car diffusers at $11.65 and $12.50.
Amazon.com has a huge range, as you might expect. I’m not even going to attempt to count how many in each section. Suffice to say, you might be spoiled for choice.
So far as burners using tealights go, the Folk Art Porcelain Tear Drop (second picture) from Amazon.com caught my eye as quite unusual. A very simple design, and the price is great: only $4.54.
Electric oil diffusers are generally quite utilitarian in style, but if you want something that will fit in with your decor, Amazon comes to the rescue with a number of other choices, for example a Decorated Electric Oil Burner at $31.99, though if you get over there quick, you might find it still offered at the sale price of $17.01.
The range on offer at Amazon.co.uk is probably just as big, but the products themselves are not necessarily the same, because most of them come from the Marketplace (as do the ones at Amazon.com).
One particular tea-light-fuelled burner caught my eye, because I love elephants. This is the Oil Burner Ornately Engraved with 3 Ganesha Figurines at £14.99, which has three elephants (Ganesha is the Hindu elephant god) supporting the bowl where you add the oil. Shades of Terry Pratchett!
A simply designed electric oil diffuser, the Rio Aroma Stone, shown here in blue, (third picture) is priced at £19.95.
Amphora Aromatics has two traditional burners available, one metal and a Pottery Oil Burner pierced through with a flame design, which is the more attractive of the two in my view. Priced at £5.05 including VAT, unfortunately it’s currently out of stock. I’m sure they will be getting some more in good time for the holiday season, however.
Of the four electric diffusers offered by Amphora, the black Pyramid Ioniser (bottom picture) is the one I would choose, priced at £18.34 including VAT, which is a good price for an ionising diffuser.
There are many more to choose from, this article is just to give you an idea of the wide range you’re likely to find. Hope you find something you like.
